My Teaching Philosophy in a Paragraph

My teaching philosophy is best stated in terms of a goal. By the end, I want my students to see themselves as the best people to ask: how might others like me best be taught the same? The emphasis of this goal is on what it means for a student to have mastered the content of any lesson. Drawing from prior experiences engaging younger audiences in both museum and classroom settings, I have come to regard my students’ mastery of material in terms of affirmative answers to two questions. Can the student identify which aspects of the lesson are most valuable to their own understanding of the material? And: Can the student identify what further resources they will need, should they wish to further their understanding?
